OutdOOr learning enviRonments

Oak Village Academy was one of the first preschools in the Triangle area with an emphasis on OLE as a basis of our campus design. Through the Natural Learning Initiative at NC State University, we created unique outdoor learning environments (OLE) that encourage children to be active while participating in learning, play and environmental education.

Here, your child will explore and grow in our interactive outdoor learning village. This allows them to practice motor development skills in a fun, organic way with natural settings and materials. For example, an important aspect of our OLE program is gardening, which promotes sensory development, teaches responsibility and encourages healthy eating.

With 75% of our day spent outdoors, experiential learning in the natural world extends and enhances your child’s developmental capacity. And for maximum benefit our owner, Alicia Fink holds her Early Childhood Outdoor Learning Enviroments Certificate , which helps our team stay up to date on trends and recommendations to continue to improve our campus experience.
